I am offering an intensive ten week mentoring session which includes goal-setting, multiple critiques, and career guidance. We will work together via email and private online meetings. The session will be designed to meet your individuals needs.
I have extensive experience working with both novice picture book writers and experienced writers, having taught Writing for Children courses at the university level, and in workshops, as well as privately advising a number of writer/illustrators.
Along with my own education, I have also benefited from working with many talented editors over the past twenty years.
Within the framework of a ten week session we
will together design a course that best fits your individual goals.
I will offer two Zoom meetings of one hour each which can be scheduled at your convenience.
- If you do not yet have a manuscript you are happy with, in which case you can share your notes and ideas, or even multiple manuscripts and we can start from there.
- If you already have a picture book manuscript, I will provide detailed notes on the first draft of a the manuscript (max 1200 words) and then again on a revised draft.
- Suggestions will be offered with the goal of achieving a submission-ready, polished draft of your story.
- We will discuss your goals, your submitted materials package, and your publication strategy.
- I will also provide guidance on writing a cover letter and will read and provide a written critique of your letter.
- We will meet for a one hour zoom chat at the beginning of the ten weeks to tailor your session again at the end to talk about where you are now and what your future plans are.
- Throughout the entire session, I will be available to answer your questions via email.
