For the past decade I have been privately working with both published and yet-to-be-published picture book writers and writer/illustrators in the areas of writing, submitting, and publishing books for children.
My mentoring is informed by my background teaching university workshops in fiction, screenwriting, and writing for children. In addition to publishing a novel and two collections of short fiction, I have now published seventeen picture books with several more on the way.
I am offering an intensive twelve week mentoring session which includes goal-setting, multiple critiques, and one-to-one online meetings. I've extensive experience working with both novice and experoienced writers intrestd in exploring a new genre. I have also advised a number of writer/illustrators. I truly love the process of working on picture books!

It has been an honor to have Sara as a mentor. She shared her knowledge of the industry so generously and gave a thorough, insightful critique of my picture book dummy. Sara went above and beyond to champion my work, and this led me to sign with my wonderful agent. I will forever be grateful to Sara for opening doors for me in this industry. ~Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson, author of The Mochi Makers
